COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For the second time in a week, a Blue Jackets prospect will captain the Canadian side of the CHL Subway Super Series.

The annual six-game exhibition is one of Hockey Canada's signature evaluation periods for the IIHF World Junior Championships, which will be held in Ufa, Russia just after the Christmas holiday. For two weeks, the top prospects in the CHL's three member leagues go head-to-head with Russia's best prospects -- and it gives the Canadian management team a firsthand look at who's prepared to represent the country.

Ryan Murray will serve as captain for Team WHL when it opens its two-game slate against Russia on Wednesday night in Vancouver. The 19-year-old defenseman currently serves as captain of the Everett Silvertips, who just recently broke a seven-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over the Tri-City Americans.

This year marks the third consecutive year that Murray has represented the WHL in the Subway Super Series, and the second overall pick in June's draft will be joined by several players he shared the stage with in Pittsburgh.

Griffin Reinhart, Matt Dumba, and Morgan Rielly joined Murray as defensemen selected in the 2012 draft -- and all four will be in the WHL lineup on Wednesday night.

Murray has scored two goals and added 15 assists in 22 games for the Silvertips this season, putting him ninth among all WHL defensemen in scoring.
