Blue Jackets, Murray await MRI results
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Three days after leaving the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre ice surface in serious pain, Blue Jackets prospect Ryan Murray will hopefully soon get clarity on the next step in his recovery.
Murray injured his shoulder during a 5-0 road loss to the Victoria Royals and did not return. The second overall pick in June's NHL draft is the captain of the Everett Silvertips but also one of their top players, so his loss is significant.
"I just feel so bad for him," Silvertips head coach Mark Ferner told Nick Patterson of the Everett Herald. "He's been such a great soldier for this organization and is such a great person. It's a terrible thing.
"You can't replace a guy like Ryan Murray."
Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson confirmed last night that Murray will undergo an MRI in the coming days, and the club expects to get the results later in the week.
The team will provide a further update on Murray's condition as more information is available.
