COLUMBUS, Ohio -- It appears as if Ryan Murray will have to wait a few more days to determine the next step in recovering from a shoulder injury.

The injury, suffered Friday night against the Victoria Royals, forced Murray to leave the game, rest the shoulder over the weekend and wait before undergoing further evaluation.

Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson confirmed to BlueJackets.com tonight that Murray will travel to Columbus in the next few days, where team doctors will review the results of his recently-completed MRI.

Any determination made by team medical personnel will dictate where Murray goes from here, whether it's surgical or non-surgical rehabilitation. Howson also said that no decision has been made regarding surgery for Murray, and none will be made until team doctors have a chance to fully review the MRI.

Murray, 19, is the captain of the Everett Silvertips (WHL) and 2012-13 is his fourth season with the club. In 23 games this season, Murray has registered two goals and 15 assists while carrying an even plus/minus rating.

He also recently served as captain of Team WHL in the Subway Super Series in Vancouver, a game which the WHL won in a shootout over Russia.

One of the most decorated junior hockey defensemen in recent years, Murray was selected second overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2012 NHL draft at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, and has twice represented Canada at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.

In 2012, he became the first draft-eligible player to compete in the IIHF World Hockey Championships when he was selected by Hockey Canada
