As the Blue Jackets crossed the attacking blueline three abreast in a 2-2 game, Vinny Prospal reflected on his thoughts: "when you have an odd man rush, it should end up in the net."

They did just that, capping off a thrilling two-goal comeback in a tough building and sending the Detroit Red Wings to their fifth consecutive loss. With the win, the Blue Jackets improved their record in the season series to 2-0-1 and have collected five of six possible points in the three games -- and they did so in large part because they outworked a hungry opponent on its home ice.

Prospal's goal was the exclamation point on a spirited rally in the wake of Artem Anisimov's scary collision with Kyle Quincey in the second period, and it all started inside their own end. James Wisniewski made a great play to intercept a centering pass from Damien Brunner and started a 3-on-2 with Prospal and Derek Dorsett. Dorsett hit Wisniewski with a wide pass, and Wisniewski's pinpoint feed to Prospal was cashed in with a sick spin-o-rama from the 38-year-old veteran.

Columbus won its first road game in seven tries and snapped a three-game losing streak with tonight's victory. Sergei Bobrovsky, who struggled in the opening minutes, made 28 stops and was large for the Blue Jackets down the stretch.

Before we call it a night, let's break down tonight's exciting win:

1. BOB BOUNCES BACK: Todd Richards admitted post-game that the thought of pulling Bobrovsky after the second Detroit goal crossed his mind, but in this scenario, he felt Bobrovsky deserved the opportunity to fight through it. "Bob" definitely did just that, and was a big reason why the Blue Jackets came away with two points tonight. He stood tall while his teammates killed penalties and did some his finest work while the Blue Jackets pushed for the tying goal in the second and third periods.

2. CLUTCH POWER PLAY: Facing a 2-0 deficit and needing something to reverse the flow of the game, the Blue Jackets' power play came up big. Jack Johnson's point shot was neatly knocked down by Cam Atkinson in front of the net, and RJ Umberger scored one of the game's most important goals to cut the lead in half. Aside from the first three minutes, the Blue Jackets had the better of the play and the power play punctuated a marked turnaround in the momentum of the game.

3. COMPOSURE KEPT: In the moments following Anisimov's injury, Richards gathered his team at the bench and delivered a message. He told them that Anisimov was in good hands and would be taken care of, and it was then time for the group to get back to work and play for each other and their teammate. They played with a determined conviction from that point forward, and forced the Red Wings into mistakes while making very few of their own. The pinnacle of that composure came on the game winning goal, which was a well-executed sequence from start to finish.
