Welcome to the newest post-game series on BlueJackets.com: By The Numbers. Here, we'll break down the most important facts, figures and statistics from that night's game. Despite the final score, there's more to the game's story than the numbers on the scoreboard.

Here's a look at some of the most interesting and notable statistics and numbers in the battle between the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets.

1 - Career NHL goal by the Flames' rookie Sean Monahan, their 2013 first-round NHL Draft pick. It was also the first goal of the game.

2 - The number of points and penalties Jack Johnson had on the night, which earned him the second star of the game.

3:49 - Ryan Murray's first period ice time. He committed an early turnover that led to the Flames' first goal of the night, but got better as the game went on.

5 - The number of players who recorded four shots on goal (CGY: Giordano, Wideman, Backlund, Jones; CBJ: Anisimov). Of those players, only Anisimov scored a goal in the game.

11 - The total hit differential in tonight's game. The Blue Jackets had 33 hits; the Flames had 22.

55 - Shots taken by the Blue Jackets. 32 of those were on goal, 23 were blocked by the Flames.

55:32 - Total ice time Flames' defenseman Dennis Wideman played in a span of 27 hours. That's almost an entire game, all on his own.

67 - Brandon Dubinsky's face-off win percentage on the night, winning 10 of 15 battles on the dot. He led all Blue Jackets last season in the face-off circle, and was fifth-best in the NHL.

1,952 - The number of miles between Nationwide Arena and the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta.

18,151 - Tonight's attendance at Nationwide Arena - a sellout crowd.
