With Cape Breton this past season, Julien Pelletier didn't appear to be a rookie — although he was.

In 67 regular season games with the Screaming Eagles, Pelletier potted 25 goals along with a similar 25 assists for 50 points, which was among the top rookies in the GMJHL. Prior to the draft, he was raked 62 among all North American skaters in Central Scouting's final rankings.

A skilled forward, Pelletier has fast and creative hands paired with the ability to make plays. Scouts have said his instincts in the offensive zone are impressive and he is able to make good reads all over the ice and anticipate his next move. It has been said that he needs improvement in his skating and overall strength.

The newly-turned 18 year old from Buckingham, Quebec., is the first Canadian to be selected by the Blue Jackets in the 2014 NHL Draft.
