With the 137th overall pick in the 2014 NHL draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets selected right winger Tyler Bird from Kimball Union Academy.

The 17-year old winger posted 37-27-60 in his senior season at Kimball Union. Prior to his time at KUA, Bird played in 19 games at St. John’s Preparatory school.

Checking in at 6-foot-2 and 203 pounds, Bird is a solid player with some bite to his game.

Central Scouting ranked Bird as the 117th North American skater coming into the draft.

Bird will be playing college hockey in fall, heading to the Ivy League where he'll suit up for Brown University.
