COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Mike Reilly is among 27 players named to the preliminary roster for the 2013 United States National Junior Team, USA Hockey announced today. The selected players will attend training camp from December 16-18 in Tarrytown, New York and an additional camp in Helsinki, Finland before the final 23-man roster is announced on December 23. The 2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship tournament will be held from December 26 – January 5 at Ufa, Russia.

Reilly, 19, is a 6-1, 167-pound defenseman from Chicago, Illinois who was the Blue Jackets’ third pick, 98th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft. A freshman at the University of Minnesota, he has tallied one goal and seven assists for eight points with six penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating. He leads all Gophers freshman in points.

Prior to joining Minnesota, Reilly helped the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League set a North American junior hockey record with a 42-game win streak en route to RBC Cup and Doyle Cup championships in 2011-12. He led all BCHL defensemen in goals (24), assists (59), and points (83) and won the BCHL Interior Conference Best Defenseman Award.
