COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned defenseman Nick Holden to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, club Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Holden has recorded 17:19 worth of ice time and a +1 plus/minus rating in two games played with Columbus and tallied 4-18-22 in addition to a +13 rating in 44 appearances with Springfield earlier this season.
A native of St. Albert, AB, Holden was originally signed by the Blue Jackets as a free agent on March 28, 2008. The 6-4, 207-pound blueliner has re-signed a one-year contract extension with Columbus in each of the past two summers. In seven career NHL appearances, Holden has registered seven hits and a +1 rating. The 25-year-old rearguard has skated in 222 career games in the AHL, totaling 17-62-79 and 177 penalty minutes. Prior to commencing his professional career, Holden spent two seasons (2006-08) with the Western Hockey League’s Chilliwack Bruins, recording 30-61-91, 116 PIM in 137 appearances.
The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they visit the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings at STAPLES Center. Game time is 10:30 p.m. ET.
