Blue Jackets place defenseman John Moore on injured reserve

Moore suffered an upper body injury during the club's morning skate in Chicago

COLUMBUS, OHIO --- The Columbus Blue Jackets today announced that defenseman John Moore has been placed on Injured Reserve. Moore, 22, suffered a shoulder injury during the club’s morning skate at Chicago on March 1 and is expected to be sidelined two to three weeks.

Columbus’ first pick, 21st overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft, Moore has recorded two goals and six assists for eight points with 14 penalty minutes in 82 career games with the Blue Jackets. He has picked up 0-1-1 and two penalty minutes in 13 games in 2012-13. The 6-3, 202-pound Winnetka, Illinois native has also tallied 9-26-35, 35 PIM in 102 career AHL games played with Springfield, including 3-6-9, 10 penalty minutes and a +14 plus/minus rating in 24 games with the Falcons this season.

Columbus returns to action on Tuesday when they host the Edmonton Oilers. Game time is 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena.
