Goloubef signs a one-year, two-way deal for the 2013-14 season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman Cody Goloubef to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract for the 2013-14 season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, further terms were not disclosed.

Goloubef, 23, appeared in 11 games with the Blue Jackets in 2012-13 and scored his first career NHL goal on Feb. 11, 2013 in a 6-2 win over San Jose. He also appeared in 38 games with the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons, collecting five goals and eight assists for 13 points with 49 penalty minutes and a +9 plus/minus rating. He added 0-2-2 and 10 penalty minutes in seven Calder Cup playoff games.

The Mississauga, Ontario native was the club’s second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. He has appeared in 12 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and tallied 11-31-42 and 134 penalty minutes in 136 career AHL games with the Falcons since beginning his professional career in 2010-11.

Goloubef played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) from 2007-10, registering 12-25-37, 138 penalty minutes and a cumulative +18 plus/minus rating in 118 games. During his junior season in 2009-10, he helped the Badgers reach the NCAA championship game. He also helped Team Canada win the gold medal at the 2009 World Junior Championships.
