COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed forward Rick Nash on Injured Reserve retroactive to January 6 and recalled forward Derek MacKenzie from the Syracuse Crunch, the club's American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced January 12.

Nash, who was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team last week, is day-to-day with a lower body injury. The four-time All-Star leads the club with 17 goals, 22 assists and 39 points in 40 games this season. He has added a team-high four game-winning goals, has a +9 plus/minus rating and is averaging 20:50 of ice time per game, tops among club forwards. The franchise's all-time leading scorer has registered 171-144-315 and 418 penalty minutes in 403 career games.

MacKenzie, 27, has tallied 8-10-18 with 22 penalty minutes and is +2 in 23 games with the Crunch this season. He has registered 2-2-4 and 28 penalty minutes in 45 career NHL games with Columbus and Atlanta, including 2-0-2 and eight penalty minutes in 17 games with the Blue Jackets in 2007-08. He also picked up 25-24-49 and 46 penalty minutes with the Crunch last season and has notched 116-135-251 and 509 penalty minutes in 462 career AHL games. Atlanta's sixth pick, 128th overall, in the 1999 Entry Draft, he signed with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 11, 2007.

The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. Game time from Nationwide Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.
