Team prepares for tournament with a little help from Ken Hitchcock
January 30: It was a busy week for the players as preparation for the Quebec tournament continues to heat up. In addition to their regular on-ice practice and off ice conditioning responsibilities, the players also participated this week in local media and recognition events.
The players had the honor of being coached by Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Ken Hitchcock during a recent team practice. The coach ran the team through some high energy skill development drills and provided useful pointers that will be sure to come in handy in Quebec. Player interview and practice footage was taped and featured in a special news segment which aired on local TV affiliate ABC 6 and CBS 10TV.
Tomorrow night, the players will 'Carry The Flag' for the big club as they will recognized on the ice at the Blue Jackets game. Final preparations continue into next week as the parents will assemble gifts in 'billet baskets' for each player's billet family, sew '#61' patches on the jersey's in honor of Rick Nash and his support of the team and make final arrangements for the kids 10 day tournament of a lifetime experience.
