COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Rick Nash has been named the National Hockey League's Third Star for the week of Mar. 2-8, 2009, the club and league announced March 9. Nash tallied four goals and two assists for six points with 11 shots on goal, was +4 and collected his fourth career hat trick in leading the Blue Jackets to a 2-1-0 record last week. In addition to Nash, Carolina center Eric Staal and Pittsburgh goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury were named first and second star, respectively.

Nash collected two assists, including one on the third period game-winning goal, and fired off three shots in a 5-4 win over Los Angeles on Mar. 3. Two nights later, he scored a goal and registered four shots in a 4-2 loss at Nashville. On Mar. 7, he collected his fourth career hat trick – and second of the season vs. the Red Wings – fired off four shots and was +3 in an 8-2 win at Detroit. All three goals he scored were unassisted, as he became the first player since Maurice "Rocket" Richard on Mar. 14, 1948 to record an "unassisted" hat trick. For the season, he has tallied 31-33-64 and is +9 in 62 games.
