Blue Jackets To Face Sidney Crosby And The Pittsburgh Penguins
Columbus (2-3) is in search of the team's first road win of the preseason, after falling at Nashville, 3-2, on Friday, and dropping a physical contest at Chicago by an identical 3-2 score on Sunday. Tonight is the first game of back-to-back games for Columbus, as the Jackets will conclude the road portion of their preseason slate on Wednesday, facing the Red Wings.
The Jackets opened the season winning two-of-three games at Nationwide Arena, including a 3-2 shootout victory over Pittsburgh on Sept. 19. The Penguins, meanwhile, have struggled out of the gates, posting an 0-3-2 record this preseason, but has yet to play a game at Mellon Arena.
When the two teams hooked up on Sept. 19, Manny Malhotra and Todd Marchant helped the Blue Jackets erase an early 2-0 deficit and win on Jaroslav Balastik's shootout goal, 3-2. Pascal Leclaire stopped 14-of-14 shots in relief of Marc Denis, and had huge saves on two-of-three Pittsburgh shootout attempts, to earn the victory.
