Columbus Will Conclude Its Preseason Playing Host to Nashville
Season Opener Wednesday, Oct. 5 At Washington
Columbus (3-5-0) defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-2 on Sept. 19 and followed that up with a 3-2 defeat of the Detroit Red Wings on Sept. 22, with both wins coming at Nationwide Arena. The Jackets then went on a tough four-game road trip, dropping two of the four games by one goal each. The Jackets returned home on Friday night, handing the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 defeat.
Nashville (3-3-0) has dropped two straight, losing both ends of a home-and-home series with the Atlanta Thrashers. Nashville started its preseason slate posting a 2-0 record, but have dropped three of four.
The Blue Jackets and Predators have met once this preseason, with Nashville prevailing, 3-2 on Sept. 23. Defenseman Aaron Johnson and LW Joakim Lindstrom scored for Columbus in the loss. The two Central Division rivals are scheduled to meet eight times during the 2005-06 campaign.
