Game-Worn Jersey Auction To Benefit Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
In an effort to do more, the Players’ Association and the League are conducting a unique auction of game-worn Opening Night jerseys with all proceeds going to World Vision to further support those affected by Hurricane Katrina. For the first period of each team’s home opener, players will wear a jersey bearing a special patch confirming the League’s and players’ commitment to the people and communities impacted. The jerseys will be collected and then auctioned on NHL.com, all NHL member Club websites, and NHLPA.com at the end of beginning of November. In total, there will be 600 NHL game worn jerseys available in the auction making it the largest game-worn jersey auction ever conducted by the NHL and NHLPA. Further details will be released as they are finalized.
The NHL and the NHLPA feel confident that hockey fans around the world will support the people of the Gulf Coast through this unique online auction.
