Blue Jackets Assign Defenseman Andy Delmore To AHL\'S Syracuse Crunch

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Andy Delmore to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Delmore, who was claimed by the Blue Jackets off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings on October 4, has appeared in one game with Columbus this season. He logged 7:12 of ice time and fired off two shots against the Calgary Flames on October 7.

Delmore, 28, has appeared in 277 career National Hockey League games, tallying 43-58-101 and 103 penalty minutes. In 2002-03, he registered 18-15-34 in 71 games with Nashville, leading all NHL defensemen in goals (tied) and power play goals (14). In 2001-02, he notched a career-high 16-22-38 in 73 games with the Predators to give him 34-38-72 in 144 games between 2001-03, which ranked second among NHL defensemen. Last year, he played for Mannheim in Germany and notched 7-16-23 and 59 penalty minutes in 50 games.

Columbus returns to action on Wednesday at San Jose, playing the second of four consecutive road games. Following their game against the Sharks, the Blue Jackets will travel to Anaheim to face the Mighty Ducks on Friday and visit the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. The final two games of the West Coast trip will be televised live on FSN Ohio. Coverage of the Blue Jackets-Mighty Ducks begins at 10 p.m. Friday with the IceBreaker pre-game show, while coverage of the Kings game on Sunday begins at 7:30 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
