The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled center Mark Hartigan and right wing Steven Goertzen from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today.

Hartigan, 28, is currently leading the Crunch in scoring with two goals and three assists for five points with 10 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in three games. He was the club's top goal scorer a year ago with 31-28-59 and 105 penalty minutes in 69 games and has racked up 71-85-156 and 244 penalty minutes in 196 career AHL games. He has also appeared in 34 career NHL games with 6-5-11 and 14 penalty minutes, including 1-3-4 and six penalty minutes in nine games with Columbus in 2003-04.

Hartigan signed with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 16, 2003. He made his professional debut in 2002-03 as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers organization following a three-year career at St. Cloud State University. He registered 86-79-165 and 72 penalty minutes in 119 NCAA games. In 2001-02, Hartigan racked up 37-38-75 in 42 games, leading the NCAA in goals, earning First Team West All-America honors. He was also a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

Goertzen, 21, has collected five penalty minutes in two games with Syracuse this season after registering 2-7-9 and 100 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Crunch as a rookie in 2004-05. He also appeared in 11 games with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers, picking up 0-3-3 and two penalty minutes

Columbus' 11th pick, 225th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, Goertzen played four seasons with Seattle of the Western Hockey League from 2001-04, collecting 33-46-79 and 254 penalty minutes in 206 career games. In 2003-04, he posted career highs with 15-18-33 and 115 penalty minutes in 69 games.
