Blue Jackets Open Five-Game Homestand With San Jose on Friday
Will Look to Avenge 4-1 Loss at San Jose on Oct. 12
Columbus (1-5-0, 2 pts.) started the season with five of their first six games on the road going 1-4. The Jackets lost their home opener, to the Calgary Flames, 3-1 on Oct. 7. Friday is the first game of the Jackets first back-to-back of the season, facing Detroit on Saturday. The homestand will conclude playing the Red Wings again on Monday, hosting Nashville on Wednesday and closing out with Minnesota
San Jose, meanwhile, opened the season with a 3-3-1 record, dropping two of their first three on the road. The Sharks won two straight at home, defeating the Blue Jackets, 4-1 and the Blackhawks, 4-1, before returning to the road, falling in ovetime at Detroit and getting shelled by Minnesota, 6-1 on Wednesday
When the two teams met earlier in the season, Wayne Primeau scored twice and Marco Sturm and Scott Thornton scored once each for San Jose, and Radoslav Suchy scored his first as a Jacket, in Columbus' 4-1 loss on Oct. 12. Denis stopped 32-of-36 shots in taking the loss.
