Detroit's Jason Williams Nets Hat Trick
With the loss, Columbus falls to 2-6-0 on the season, while Detroit improves to 8-1-0 in 2005-06. Williams scored three first-period goals and Johan Franzen also scored for Detroit, chasing Marc Denis, whom stopped 13-of-17 shots in the first period. Martin Prusek made his Columbus debut in net, stopping 17-of-19 shots.
Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk also lit the lamp for Detroit, which outshot Columbus, 36-17. Detroit finished 1-for-5 on the power play and Columbus did not convert on seven attempts.
Columbus and Detroit will meet again on Monday night at 7 p.m.
