Foote's Shorthanded Goal In Overtime Hands Nashville Its First Defeat
Prusek Earns His First Victory As A Blue Jacket
Adam Foote scored the game-winning shorthanded goal in overtime to end the Predators’ eight-game win streak with a 3-2 victory over Nashville in front of 15,110 at Nationwide Arena on Wednesday night.
The Jackets got on the board at 5:28 of the second period when Trevor Letowski scored his third goal of the season off assists from Tyler Wright and Luke Richardson for a 1-0 Blue Jacket lead. The Predators tied it later in the second on a goal by Paul Kariya.
Mark Hartigan, playing in just his fourth game since being recalled from Syracuse, scored a power-play goal at 16:33 of the third off assists from Manny Malhotra, his team leading sixth, and Bryan Berard to put the Jackets up 2-1.
The Predators tied the score with 19 seconds remaining in the game on an Adam Hall power-play goal setting up overtime and Foote’s heroics.
Martin Prusek recorded 22 saves to earn his first victory as a Blue Jacket, as Columbus out shot the Predators, 34-24. The Jackets return to action on Friday, playing host to the Minnesota Wild at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena.
