Adam Foote forced overtime with the game-tying goal with 42 seconds remaining and Trevor Letowski scored the game-winning goal in the eighth round of the shootout to give the Jackets a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Minnesota in front of 15,669 at Nationwide Arena on Friday.

The Wild’s Pierre-Marc Bouchard tallied a goal off assists from Randy Robitaille and Willie Mitchell at 5:15 of the second to put the Jackets in an early hole.

But for the second straight game, Foote scored a huge goal, tying the game with less than a minute remaining on assists from David Vyborny and Bryan Berard. For Foote it was his second straight game with a goal and ties him with Berard and Jason Chimera for the team lead with three goals.

After a scoreless overtime, Martin Prusek stopped seven-of-eight Minnesota shootout attempts, while the Jackets scored twice, both with the game on the line. Mark Hartigan scored in the third round of the shootout with Columbus trailing, 1-0, and Letowski ended the game in the fifth round of sudden death, giving the Blue Jackets the 2-1 shootout win.

Tonights was the Jackets' first game to end in the shootout and was the first game in NHL history to go to the sudden death portion of the shootout, going a league-high eight rounds.

Prusek was fantastic in the net, making several highlight real saves en route to stopping 27-of-28 shots in becoming the first Jacket netminder in team history to win his first two starts. Minnesota’s Dwayne Roloson made 52 saves for the Wild.

The Jackets set a team record with 53 shots on net, including a record 24 in the third period. Columbus finished 0-for-3 on the power play and killed off all five Wild power play attempts.

The Jackets return to action tomorrow, facing these same Minnesota Wild with the game scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET) at the Excel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. is the official Web site of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
