COLUMBUS RETURNS HARTIGAN TO CRUNCH: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned center Mark Hartigan to the Syracuse Crunch. Hartigan, 28, recorded 1 goal with a +1 plus-minus rating and one shootout conversion in six games with the Blue Jackets this season. He has appeared in 40 career NHL games with 7 goals, 5 assists and 14 penalty minutes. Hartigan opened the season with 2 goals, 3 assists and 10 penalty minutes in three games with Syracuse before being recalled by the Blue Jackets on October 18. A native of Fort St. John, British Columbia, Hartigan resigned as a free agent with Columbus, Aug.22, 2005.

CRUNCH PLAYERS ON THE MOVE: Through Sunday night the Crunch have had 24 player transactions this season compared to zero at the same point last season. In fact, the Crunch did not have a player move until Nov. 10 during the 2004-05 season. Syracuse finished with 57 transactions for the entire 2004-05 season.

POWER PLAY ALL CHARGED UP: The Syracuse Crunch’s power play unit took off on Friday night, scoring five times (5-for-10) after beginning the season with a total of six power play goals in the first six games (6-for-57) with the man advantage.

PICARD NETS FIRST: Rookie left winger Alexandre Picard netted his first professional goal on Friday night during the Crunch’s 7-6 loss to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Picard has appeared in seven games for the Crunch this season, recording 1 goal, 1 assist and 12 penalty minutes. He became the 15th first round pick (7th top ten pick) to appear in a Crunch uniform, when he made his professional debut on Oct. 8 against the Albany River Rats. A native of Les Saules, Quebec, Picard was selected eighth overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 206 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with Sherbrooke and Lewiston, recording 93 goals, 94 assists and 289 penalty minutes.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:

GRAND RAPIDS (DETROIT RED WINGS): Syracuse travels to Grand Rapids for their first and second of six regular season games on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5. Left wing Jiri Hudler leads the Griffins with 21 points (12g, 9a) in nine games. The Griffins are now home to two former Crunch players (left wing Kent McDonell - 9gp, 1g, 10a and center Donald MacLean – 9gp, 1g, 1a). Goaltender Drew MacIntyre has appeared in four games for Grand Rapids, posting a 3-1-0 record, a 2.27 goals against average and a .921 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 1-3-0 against the Griffins.

CLEVELAND (SAN JOSE SHARKS): The Crunch conclude their four game road trip in Cleveland on Sunday, Nov. 6 for the first of six regular season meetings. Right wing Steve Bernier leads the Barons with nine points (4g, 5a) in eight games. Goaltenders Joel Martin (0-1-0, 4.01gaa and .833 save percentage) and Jamie Holden (0-1-0, 5.07gaa and .857 save percentage) have each appeared in one game for Cleveland. Lifetime, the Crunch are 19-12-1 against the Barons.

CRUNCHABLES: Marc Methot was the only Crunch defenseman to have not been assessed a minor penalty in Saturday’s game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Syracuse’s 20 shots in Saturday’s game and three shots in the first period are the lowest recorded this season… Defenseman Andy Canzanello recorded his first Crunch point on Saturday night… Defenseman Andy Delmore appeared in his 200th AHL contest on Saturday night in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton… Center Geoff Platt enters the week tied for fifth in the AHL in goals (8) and tied for second among rookies with 11 points.
