David Vyborny scored in the second period to become the Jackets all-time points leader, but Calgary scored two third period goals, one on a fluke bounce, that led to a 2-1 Jackets loss in front of 19,289 at Pengrowth Saddledome on Thursday night.

Rick Nash unleashed a brutal forecheck on Calgary’s Andrew Ference keeping the puck alive on the Calgary end of the ice, Vyborny recovered the lose puck and beat Kiprusoff for a 1-0 lead.

With the goal, Vyborny became the all-time points leader for the Columbus Blue Jackets. The goal was the 71st of his career and he is also the all-time assists leader with 98, giving Vyborny 169 points for his Blue Jacket career, passing former Jacket Geoff Sanderson (88-80-168).

Bryan Berard tallied an assist on the play, extending his scoring streak to six games (1-5-6).

Calgary tied the game in the third after Marc Denis made the initial save of Steven Reinprecht’s shot attempt, Reinprecht corralled the loose puck with his right skate, passing the puck to his stick to beat Denis to his right, tying the game at one.

Marcus Nilson gave Calgary its first lead of the game later in the third period, scoring on a fluke bounce. Again, Denis made a save on Nilson’s shot, swiped at the puck with his stick to knock it out of the crease and had the puck bounce off of Nilson and into the goal, giving Calgary a 2-1 lead.

Denis stopped 29-of-31 shots in taking the loss. The Jackets were out-shot on the evening, 31-17, while finishing 0-for-4 on the power play and killing off all seven Calgary PP attempts.

The Jackets will return to action tomorrow evening, facing the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m. (ET) to conclude the Jackets four-game road trip.
