GOALTENDERS HURT IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES: The Crunch lost their starting goaltender to injury in consecutive games this weekend, losing Andrew Penner 28:18 into the game on Saturday night in Grand Rapids and Pascal Leclaire just 5:26 into the contest on Sunday against Cleveland. Both players will be examined by the club’s doctor today. Leclaire filled in for Penner on Saturday night and Mike Ayers, who signed his second PTO with the club Sunday afternoon, relieved Leclaire against the Barons.

HUH-?: The good news is that the Crunch has scored the games first goal in 7 of their 11 games this season. The bad news is that the Crunch has posted a 1-6-0-0 record in those games. The team dropped all three games this past weekend despite netting the first goal. Syracuse is 3-1-0-0 in games in which their opponent opens the scoring.

PLATT FIRST TO DOUBLE DIGITS: Rookie center Geoff Platt’s tremendous start continued this past weekend as he became the first Syracuse player to hit the 10-goal mark. Platt has outscored the Crunch’s second place score by seven goals (Johnson, Hartigan and Murray – 3). A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Platt enters the week as the AHL’s leading rookie scorer with 14 points (10g, 4a). Syracuse signed Platt as a free agent on September 23, 2005.

CHICAGO (ATLANTA THRASHERS): Syracuse hosts Chicago for the first of two regular season games on Friday, November 11. Left wing Ramzi Abid leads the Wolves with 11 points (7g, 4a) in 10 games. Goaltender Adam Berkhoel has appeared in three games for Chicago, posting a 1-2-0 record, a 3.02 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 1-5-0 against the Wolves.
ALBANY (NEW JERSEY DEVILS): The Crunch travel to Albany on Saturday, November 12 for the second of six regular season meetings. Center Petr Vrana (1g, 1a) and right wing Barry Tallackson (1g, 1a) lead all players in head-to-head scoring. The Crunch defeated the River Rats in their first meeting on Saturday, October 8 at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Ten Crunch players have one point in head-to-head scoring. Goaltender Ari Ahonen appeared between the pipes for Albany, recording 47 saves. Lifetime, the Crunch are 39-35-9 against the River Rats.
