THIS WEEK IN BLUE JACKETS HOCKEY: The Columbus Blue Jackets (5-13-0, 10 pts./4th, Central Division) wrap up a four-game homestand on Wednesday night the same way they began it on Nov. 9, with a game against Central Division rival St. Louis. Following their game against the Blues, the Blue Jackets travel to Dallas and Phoenix for their first games of the season against the Stars and Coyotes on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

WEEK IN REVIEW: Nov. 9– at Blue Jackets 3, St. Louis 1: David Vyborny scored two goals, while Marc Denis made 24 saves and took a shutout into the final minute of the game to lead the Blue Jackets. Manny Malhotra and Nikolai Zherdev each added two assists and Todd Marchant scored his first goal of the season to lead Columbus. Lee Stempniak's power play goal at 19:23 spoiled the shutout… Nov. 11 – Edmonton 3, at Blue Jackets 1: Fernando Pisani scored the game-winning goal at 7:36 of the third period and Radek Dvorak added an empty net tally to lead the Oilers. Marchant scored for the second-straight game for Columbus, which outshot Edmonton 30 to 21, including 13 to 2 in the first period. Jussi Markkanen made 29 saves for the Oilers, while Denis stopped 18-of-20 for the Jackets… Nov. 13 – Los Angeles 8, at Columbus 2: Alexander Frolov tallied a hat trick and Pavol Demitra added four assists in a five-goal first period as the Kings handed the Jackets their worst loss of the season. Craig Conroy had 3-2-5, while Frolov finished the game with 3-1-4 to pace the Kings attack. Jason Chimera tallied 1-1-2, while Duvie Westcott notched 0-1-1 and was +2 to pace Columbus, who allowed two power play and two shorthanded goals in the game.

BLUE JACKETS TOP LINE ACCOUNTING FOR LIONS SHARE OF OFFENSE: Columbus' top line of LW Nikolai Zherdev - C Manny Malhotra - RW David Vyborny has accounted for most of the club's offensive production of late. Over the past four games, Zherdev has tallied 2-3-5, Malhotra has 0-4-4 and Vyborny has 3-1-4. Of the last 12 goals scored by the Blue Jackets, one of the three has accounted for a goal or assist in eight of the tallies. Vyborny has netted 6-4-10 in his last 12 games and now leads the club in goals and is second in points with 6-5-11 in 18 games.

MARCHANT RETURNING TO FORM OF LATE: C Todd Marchant has tallied 3-1-4 in his last five games after being held to 0-5-5 over the first 14 games of the season. He picked up an assist at Vancouver on Nov. 4 and has scored goals in each of the last three games – vs. St. Louis on Nov. 9, vs. Edmonton on Nov. 11 and vs. Los Angeles on Nov. 11.

NEWS & NOTES: Columbus is 4-2-0 when it scores three or more goals and 1-11-0 when it is held to two or fewer… A Blue Jackets defenseman has figured in scoring on 21 of the team's 33 goals this season… D Duvie Westcott picked up his first point of the season with an assist vs. Los Angeles on Nov. 13 and also registered a +2 plus/minus rating in the 8-2 loss… LW Jason Chimera registered his second multi-point game of the season with 1-1-2 vs. Los Angeles on Nov. 13.

FIRST BOOK JACKETS CELEBRITY READING EVENT ON MONDAY: The Blue Jackets Book Jackets program is an educational program that uses team celebrities as role models for literacy to help encourage students in grades K-8 to spend more of their free time reading. The program rewards students through incentives based on time children spend reading. This year's program is underway and the first celebrity reading event will take place today, Monday, Nov. 14. Blue Jackets C Manny Malhotra will be reading with young fans at the Southeast branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, located at 3980 S. Hamilton Road in Groveport, from 7 to 8 p.m.

JODY SHELLEY TO APPEAR AT CAPITOL SQUARE LIGHTING CEREMONY TUESDAY: Blue Jackets LW Jody Shelley will be on hand at the Statehouse on Tuesday for the downtown Capitol Square Lighting Ceremony and to officially open the Skate on State outdoor ice rink. The lighting ceremony begins at 5 p.m. with the unveiling of Nutcracker Blvd. and the inaugural Skate on State slated for 5:45 p.m. The event will include public skating and numerous Blue Jackets interactives.

PUCKS & BUCKS NIGHT FEATURING OSU MARCHING BAND THIS WEDNESDAY: The Blue Jackets and Ohio State Buckeyes are teaming up for Bucks and Pucks Night at Nationwide Arena when the Blue Jackets host the St. Louis Blues. The celebration of Michigan Week includes: the Ohio State Marching Band performing at the Front Street and McConnell Street plazas from 5:30-6:30 pm and during intermissions; a breakdown of the OSU-Michigan game by the Ohio State Radio Network broadcast team of Paul Keels, Jim Lachey and Jim Karsatos from 6:30 - 6:50 pm on the Bud Light Terrace; and appearances by Brutus Buckeye and the Ohio State Cheerleaders. BLUE JACKETS, MARINES TEAM UP FOR TOYS FOR TOTS TOY DRIVE BEGINNING WEDNESDAY: The Blue Jackets are teaming up with the Marines to make the holidays a little brighter for other Columbus residents by participating in the 2005 Toys for Tots Toy Drive. Blue Jackets fans can help by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to Nationwide Arena during the following games - Nov. 16 vs. St. Louis, Nov. 23 vs. Nashville and Nov. 25 vs. Colorado.

JACKETS ON THE RADIO: The Doug MacLean Show airs on WBNS Sports Radio 1460 The Fan on Wednesdays from 3 - 4 p.m. with the Blue Jackets President and General Manager and WBNS Radio's Bruce Hooley. Between the Pipes with the Blue Jackets can also be heard on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship station Sports Radio 1460 the Fan on Sundays from 10 to 11 a.m. with hosts Mark Wyant and members of the Blue Jackets broadcast team.
