Blue Jackets Activate Rick Nash off IR
COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Rick Nash off Injured Reserve, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Nash, who has missed the past 17 games due to a knee sprain suffered Nov. 3 at Calgary, is expected to be in the line-up for tonight's Blue Jackets game at the Nashville Predators.
Nash, 21,has skated in three games this season with nine shots on goal. He missed 11 of the Blue Jackets first 12 games this season due to an ankle injury suffered during training camp. He started the Season Opener at Washington on Oct. 5, but left the game early after recording three shots on goal in 8:24 of ice time. The first overall selection in the 2002 Entry Draft, Nash has scored 58-38-96 in 157 career NHL games. During the 2003-04 season he was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team, finishing the season tied for first in the NHL in goals (41) and first in power-play goals (19). He is the youngest player in NHL history to lead the league in goals. At the 2005 World Championships, Nash earned All-Tournament Team recognition after leading the tournament in goals (9) and ranking second in points (15).
