Blue Jackets Activate Rostislav Klesla; Recall Andy Delmore

The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Rostislav Klesla off Injured Reserve, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. The Blue Jackets have also recalled defenseman Andy Delmore on an emergency basis from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

Klesla, 23, has appeared in four games this season, averaging 16:34 of ice time per game with 1-0-1, 17 penalty minutes and an even plus-minus rating. He has missed the past 16 games due to a broken hand suffered Nov. 9 against St. Louis. Klesla previously missed the first 12 games of the season due to a stress fracture of his leg.

A native of Novy Jicin, Czech Republic, Klesla was the first draft pick in franchise history, selected fourth overall in the 2000 Entry Draft. He has appeared in 206 career games with the Blue Jackets, registering 15-33-48 and 195 penalty minutes. He has been selected to play in the NHL YoungStars Game during All-Star Weekend twice (2003, 2002-missed game due to injury) and was an NHL All-Rookie Team selection in 2001-02.

Delmore, 28, has skated in 22 games split between the NHL and AHL. He was claimed by the Blue Jackets off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 4, and logged 7:12 of ice time with two shots in one NHL game this season. Delmore has scored 4-19-23 in 21 games with Syracuse. He ranks second in the AHL in power-play assists (16), tied for 13th in assists, and tied for second in points by a defenseman.

The Blue Jackets conclude a three game road trip tonight at the Detroit Red Wings. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Coverage on FSN Ohio begins with the IceBreaker pre-game show at 7 p.m. The game also will be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
