Blue Jackets Re-assign Andy Delmore and Steven Goertzen To Syracuse
Delmore, 28, was recalled on Dec. 20 under emergency conditions and has played in the past two Blue Jackets game. He has skated in 24 games this season split between the NHL and AHL. Delmore was claimed by the Blue Jackets off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 4, and has played in three games with the Blue Jackets this season, registering five shots on goal. He has scored 4-19-23 in 21 games with Syracuse to rank tied for second in the AHL in power-play assists (16), tied for 14th in assists, and tied for third in points by a defenseman.
Goertzen, 21, was recalled on Dec. 21 under emergency conditions and skated 9:20 in last night’s game against Dallas. He has appeared in 32 NHL and AHL games this season. In 24 games with Columbus, he’s posted 24 penalty minutes and 14 shots on goal. Goertzen has also recorded 1-1-2 with 11 penalty minutes in eight games with Syracuse. He made his NHL debut on October 21 against the San Jose Sharks and logged 9:55. A seventh round selection by the Blue Jackets in the 2002 Entry Draft, Goertzen made his professional debut in 2004-05, tallying 2-7-9 and 100 penalty minutes in 57 games with Syracuse.
The Blue Jackets return to action Friday when they host the Nashville Predators at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m., with FSN Ohio's Ice Breaker pregame show starting at 6:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship station WWCD-FM, CD101.
