Columbus signs 2002 Second Round Pick Joakim Lindstrom
Lindstrom, 22, has scored 7-17-24 with a +4 plus-minus rating, four power-play goals and two shorthanded goals in 33 games with Syracuse this season, his first full year in North America. Lindstrom has posted 4-10-14 with a +12 plus-minus rating over his last 15 games, including a “plus” or “even” rating in his last 18 contests.
“We’ve been very pleased with Joakim’s development and feel he will develop into a valuable player for us,” MacLean said. “He’s a talented forward and his skills fit in very well with the other young players in our organization.”
The Skelleftea, Sweden native made his North American debut at the end of last season, scoring 4-4-8 in the final 13 games of the season. He opened 2004-05 with MoDo of the Swedish Elite League and recorded 2-3-4 in 37 games before making the transfer to North America. In parts of five seasons in the Swedish Elite League, Lindstrom recorded 12-13-25 in 133 regular season games and 4-7-11 in 27 playoff games.
