Columbus Blue Jackets, FSN OHIO Announce 2006-07 Telecast Schedule
"We are excited to work with our partners at FSN Ohio to bring another season of exciting and insightful Blue Jackets hockey broadcasts into the homes of our fans,” said the club's Vice-President of Marketing Marc Gregory. "In addition to our 75 local telecasts on FSN Ohio, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase the Blue Jackets for a broader television audience during our record-six featured games on NBC and Versus."
FSN Ohio will air 35 home games and 40 away contests during the 2006-07 regular season. Highlights of this year's television schedule include 27 of the 32 rivalry games against Central Division foes Detroit, St. Louis, Nashville and Chicago. The schedule also features the team’s 10 inter-conference games against Eastern Conference opponents in the Northeast and Atlantic divisions, including an Oct. 21 contest against Calder Trophy finalist Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins and a rare home game against Ottawa on Dec. 10. In addition, the Blue Jackets will face all Original Six teams this season, including home match-ups against Toronto on Oct. 20 and Montreal on Feb. 18.
"FSN Ohio is proud to once again be the place to turn for anything related to Blue Jackets hockey," said FSN Ohio Vice-President and General Manager Steve Liverani. “As the leading sports television network in the region, FSN Ohio will continue to provide fans the most access, information and in-depth coverage of the Columbus Blue Jackets.”
The FSN Ohio-Blue Jackets team features play-by-play announcer Jeff Rimer alongside a new color analyst as former NHL All-Star and longtime broadcaster Danny Gare enters his first year with the club. Gare, who played 13 seasons in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers, transitioned to the broadcast booth where he has earned 14 years experience as a color analyst, studio analyst and ice level reporter for the Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning.
FSN Ohio coverage each game night begins with Ice Breaker, a 30-minute pre-game show, and concludes with Blue Jackets Ice Cap, a post-game show that features highlights, player interviews and analysis immediately following each game.
Versus broadcasts live from Nationwide Arena twice within a nine-day span when the Blue Jackets battle Detroit on Dec. 18 and Boston on Dec. 26. The last of the three Versus telecasts follows the Blue Jackets on the road at Chicago on Jan. 16.
The three NBC matinees feature Sunday home games against Chicago (Feb. 11), St. Louis (Mar. 25) and Detroit (Apr. 1).
