Blue Jackets Sign Trevor Hendrikx to Entry Level Contract
Hendrikx set career highs in assists, points and plus/minus rating with Peterborough last season
Hendrikx, 21, has recorded 34-115-149 with 596 penalty minutes in 292 career games with Peterborough of the Ontario Hockey League. He has added 10-17-27 with 62 penalty minutes in 45 career playoff games.
“We are excited and I know Trevor is excited. His professional career begins today in Traverse City,” said Blue Jackets Executive Vice-President and Assistant General Manager Jim Clark. “We feel he will be an important part of our defensive group in Syracuse this season and continue to develop into a solid NHL player.”
The Russell, Ontario, native was the Blue Jackets 10th pick, 283rd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. In 2005-06, he led Peterborough in assists with 47, a career high, while also setting career highs in points (56) and plus/minus rating (+12). He added nine goals and 123 penalty minutes in 60 games. He is among 24 players attending a rookie camp and prospect tournament in Traverse City, Mich.
