The Blue Jackets enter the week looking to halt a three-game losing streak that encompassed a stretch in which the club played just three times over a 13-day period (Oct. 10-22).
Columbus is 2-1-0 when out-shooting the opposition and 0-2-1 when trailing in shots on goal this season.
The club suffered a 5-3 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday in the first of five road games vs. the Atlantic Division this season. Columbus also visits New Jersey (Oct. 28), Philadelphia (Nov. 24), NY Islanders (Dec. 23) and NY Rangers (Feb. 24).
Columbus is 3-3-1 in its last seven games vs. San Jose after posting a 3-9-1 mark in the first 13 meetings.
The Jackets have gone 8-4-1 in their last 13 vs. Los Angeles after the Kings won six of the first seven all-time meetings.
Saturday’s game at Continental Airlines Arena will be the third visit ever by the Blue Jackets. The teams skated to a 2-2 tie on Dec. 27, 2000 and New Jersey earned a 3-2 win on Oct. 12, 2002. The all-time series between the clubs is tied at 3-3-1.
RW David Vyborny played in his 400th career NHL game Oct. 20 vs. Toronto. He is the first player in club history to play in 400 games as a Blue Jacket. He is the club’s all-time scoring leader with 91-144-235 in 401 games and leads the club in scoring this season with 1-7-8 in six outings, including three multi-point games.
C Sergei Fedorov, who has missed the club’s first six games due to a shoulder injury suffered during the preseason, is scheduled to make his season debut Monday vs. San Jose.
G Fredrik Norrena made his first NHL start Oct. 21 at Pittsburgh and made 29 saves in a 5-3 loss.
LW Fredrik Modin scored his first goal as a Blue Jacket Oct. 21 at Pittsburgh.
D Anders Eriksson has picked up an assist in three of his first five games.
C Alexander Svitov scored his first goal of the season Oct. 20 vs. Toronto.
