SIMON RECORDS TWO GOAL GAME: A night after being scratched against his former team, the Chicago Wolves, center Ben Simon tallied twice in Syracuse’s 4-2 loss to Omaha on Saturday, Nov. 11. Both of Simon’s goals gave Syracuse the lead in the game. The goals broke a three-game point drought for Simon as well. In 11 games with Syracuse this season, Simon has tallied 3 goals, 2 assists and 16 penalty minutes.
MORAN AND OTHERS VISIT SYRACUSE: On Saturday, the Crunch will get a visit from their all-time leading scorer Brad Moran and former defensemen Prestin Ryan and Dustin Wood.
Moran had a stint with Syracuse from 2000-05 and still holds the top spot on the Crunch’s all-time list in points (241), assists (143), games played (334) and shorthanded goals (9). Moran is also tied for fist with Mark Hartigan with 38 power play goals and second with 98 goals all-time. He is currently second on the Moose in scoring with 12 points (5g, 7a) in 11 games.
Ryan appeared in 59 games with Syracuse during the 2004-05 season, in which he tallied 3 goals, 6 assists and 161 penalty minutes. Last season he tallied 11 goals, 12 assists and 63 penalty minutes in 64 games with Manitoba. He scored the game winning goal in overtime against Syracuse in the North Division Semi-finals that lifted the Moose into the second round of the playoffs. In 16 games with Manitoba this season, Ryan has 1 goal, 3 assists and 30 penalty minutes.
Wood joined the Crunch in March 2006 in a trade with Minnesota that sent Greg Mauldin to Houston. Wood registered three assists in the 14 games his played with Syracuse. This season Wood has appeared in 13 games with the Moose, tallying 1 assist and 10 penalty minutes.

PHILADELPHIA (PHILADELPHIA FLYERS): Syracuse travels to Philadelphia on Wednesday, Nov. 15 for the first of two regular season meetings. Center Marty Murray leads the Phantoms in scoring with 15 points (2g, 13a). Goaltender Scoot Munroe has appeared in seven games for Philadelphia, posting a 2-3-0 record, a 3.41 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. ALBANY (CAROLINA HURRICANES/COLORADO AVALANCHE): On Friday, November 17 Syracuse travels to Albany for the first of eight regular season meetings. Center Keith Aucoin leads the River Rats in scoring with 15 points (6g, 9a). Goaltender Tyler Weiman has appeared in nine games between the pipes for Albany, posting a 6-3-0 record, a 3.04 goals against average and .904 save percentage. Lifetime, Syracuse is 42-37-9 against Albany.
MANITOBA (VANCOUVER CANUCKS): The Moose visit the Crunch on Saturday, Nov.18 for the first of eight regular season meetings. Left wing Jason Jaffray leads all Moose players with 14 points (11g, 3a). Goaltender Wade Flaherty has appeared in net eight times for Manitoba, posting a 4-3-0 record, 2.61 goals against average and a .896 save percentage. Lifetime, the Crunch are 6-5-1 against the Moose.
CRUNCHABLES: Syracuse has allowed five or more goals in seven of their 13 games… The only period the Crunch have outscored their opponents this season is the second period at home… With an assist on Saturday night, left wing Mark Hartigan tied Larry Courville for fifth on the Crunch’s all-time assist list with 96… On Friday night, defenseman Jamie Pushor appeared in his 900th professional game… Defenseman Andy Canzanello’s next game will be his 100th career AHL game… Right wing Brandon Sugden is 66 penalty minutes shy of tying Jeremy Reich for first on the Crunch’s all-time penalty minutes list.
