Rivalry Heats Up
Central Division rivals Columbus and Nashville will face each other for the third time in six days tonight at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena. Coverage on FSN Ohio begins with Ice Breaker at 6:30 p.m.
Columbus (5-12-1) will be looking to looking to take their first against the Predators this season, after falling 5-4 at home on Nov. 15 as well as 4-2 at Nashville on Nov. 18.
Pascal Leclaire was on the hook for both of the losses, but really was superb besides two tough periods, surrendering three goals in the third period on Wednesday and four in the second on Saturday. The two 'Ls' have dropped Leclaire's season mark to 5-9-1 with a 3.38 GAA.
The offense has been led by David Vyborny, scoring 4-12-16 and Rick Nash, with a team-high six goals, including two goals vs. Nashville on Wednesday.
Nashville (12-4-2), meanwhile, has gotten superb goaltending from Tomas Vokoun, sporting a 9-3-1 mark with a 2.84 GAA.
Offensively, the club is doing just enough to win and have had a very balanced attack with 10 players scoring 10 points or more in the club's 18 games. Steve Sullivan leads the team with 6-14-20, while Jason Arnott has a team-high seven goals, two of which were power-play goals scored against Columbus on Sunday night.
Tonight will mark the club's third meeting of the season, with five remaining, and Columbus is looking for its first win vs. the Preds in 2006-07. Last year, the club went 3-5-0 vs. Nashville, and currently sports an 11-18-2 record in the series, including 7-7-1 at Nationwide Arena.
