Columbus’ roster at the start of the week includes six of the club’s seven first round draft picks – D Rostislav Klesla (2000, 4th overall), G Pascal Leclaire (2001, 8th), LW Rick Nash (2002, 1st), RW Nikolai Zherdev (2003, 4th), LW Alexandre Picard (2004, 8th) and C Gilbert Brule (2005, 6th). The lone pick not on the roster is C Derick Brassard (2006, 6th).
The Blue Jackets wrap up their season-high five-game road trip this week with visits to Colorado (Dec. 5) and St. Louis (Dec. 9). Columbus is currently 1-2-0 on the trip.
Columbus is in the middle of a stretch of games that has the club playing seven-of-eight on the road. Following the current five-game road trip, the Jackets host Ottawa on Sunday before visiting Dallas and Phoenix next week.
Columbus is 2-3-0 under new head coach Ken Hitchcock with all three losses coming by one-goal. The Blue Jackets have outscored the opposition 12 to 9 under Hitchcock after being outscored 64 to 42 prior to his joining the club.
The Jackets have scored 16 even-strength goals in their last 10 games after scoring 13 in their first 15 games.
Columbus has allowed three goals or less in a season-high five consecutive games (nine goals total).
The Blue Jackets have not allowed a power play goal in the first three games of their current road trip (15-of-15).
Columbus visits Colorado on Tuesday, looking for its first-ever win at Pepsi Center (0-9-1) and second all-time vs. the Avalanche (1-19-2).
The Blue Jackets have gone 7-3-2 in their last 12 meetings vs. St. Louis to improve their record in the all-time series to 11-13-7. Columbus is 2-0-1 in its last three road games in the series after winning just twice in its first 13 trips (2-9-2).
Columbus will being looking for its first-ever win vs. Ottawa on Sunday as the club is 0-3-2 in five previous games vs. the Senators. Following ties in the first two games, Ottawa has won three in a row, including a 5-2 decision at home in the last meeting on Nov. 23, 2003.
Columbus G Pascal Leclaire and Fredrik Norrena combined for a 1.01 goals-against average, .964 save percentage and one shutout in three games last week. Leclaire went 0-2-0 with a 1.51 GAA and .953 SV% in two games. He made 32 saves in a 1-0 loss at Vancouver on Nov. 28 and made 29 saves in a 2-1 loss at Calgary on Dec. 1. Norrena made 21 saves to record his first career shutout in a 4-0 win at Edmonton on Dec. 2.
C Sergei Fedorov is two goals shy of 450 in his NHL career (448-627-1,075 in 1,071 games).
D Bryan Berard is two points shy of 300 in his NHL career (71-227-298 in 554 games).
RW Anson Carter is five goals shy of 200 in his NHL career (195-207-402 in 635 games).
