COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets left wing Rick Nash was named to the Western Conference team for the 2007 National Hockey League All-Star Game to be played at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Wednesday, Jan. 24, the club and NHL announced today. The selection is the second-straight for Nash as this year marks the first NHL All-Star Game since 2004 when at age 19 he became the youngest player to participate in the game since 1986. He also appeared in the NHL YoungStars Game during 2003 All-Star Weekend.

Nash, 22, has played in 39 games this season and is tied for the club lead with 13 goals and ranks second with 17 assists and 30 points. Columbus first pick, first overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft he has tallied 102-78-180 and 244 penalty minutes in 247 career NHL games, including 31-23-54 and 51 penalty minutes in 54 games during an injury-shortened 2005-06 campaign.

Nash registered a career-high 41-16-57 and 87 penalty minutes in 80 games in 2003-04, sharing the “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s top goal scorer with Jarome Iglina and Ilya Kovalchuk and becoming the youngest player in NHL history to lead the league in goals. He made his NHL debut at age 18 in 2002-03 and was an All-Rookie Team selection and finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy as Rookie of the Year after notching 17-22-39 and 78 penalty minutes in 74 games.

This year marks the fourth in which a Blue Jacket has been selected to play in the All-Star Game. The previous three were: 2004 – Nash, West – 0-0-0 in 6-4 loss; 2003 – Ray Whitney, West – 0-1-1 in 6-5 win; 2002 – Espen Knutsen, World – 1-2-3 in 8-5 win.
