THREE FOR THREE: The Crunch enter this week with three players (Derrick Walser, Filip Novak and Joakim Lindstrom having recorded a point in three consecutive games. Walser (2g, 3a) and Novak (1g, 4a) have each tallied five points during that span, while Lindstrom has registered four points (2g, 2a). Syracuse lost only one of the three games, falling 4-3 to Albany on March 2. On Saturday, March 3 Walser recorded an assist, his 100th in a Crunch uniform. He is only the sixth player in Crunch history to hit the century mark.
PINEAULT RETURNED - WALTON RETURNED: The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have returned right wing Adam Pineault. The team also announced that they have returned right wing Brent Walton to Dayton (ECHL).
Pineault, 20, has appeared in 55 games with Syracuse this season, recording 12 goals, 15 assists and 64 penalty minutes. He was recalled twice by Columbus but has yet to make his NHL debut. A native of Holyoke, Massachusetts, Pineault was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.
Walton, 23, has appeared in 7 games with Syracuse this season with recording a point. In 44 games with Dayton this season, Walton has tallied 16 goals, 13 assists and 29 penalty minutes. A native of Elmira Ontario, Walton signed an AHL contract with Syracuse this off-season.
NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COLUMBUS UPDATE: The Blue Jackets went 2-1-0-0 last week, dropping a 3-2 decision to Colorado on Tuesday, February 27, then closing out the week with a 3-2 shootout win over Dallas and 4-3 win over Phoenix. Recently recalled defenseman Marc Methot recorded his first NHL point, an assist, in Columbus win over Dallas on Friday night. Center Zenon Konopka was the second shooter for Columbus on Friday night, but was unable to convert on his attempt. Former Crunch center Geoff Platt contributed on Saturday night tallying two assists in the Blue Jackets win on Saturday night.

ROCHESTER (BUFFALO SABRES AND FLORIDA PANTHERS): On Friday, March 9 Syracuse travels to Rochester for the eighth of 12 regular season meetings between the clubs. The Crunch are 3-2-0-1 against the Amerks, after losing to Rochester 5-2 on February 17 at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Defenseman Filip Novak leads all players in head-to-head scoring with nine points (1g, 8a). Center Janis Sprukts leads all Rochester players in head-to-head scoring with eight points (2g, 6a). Goaltender Tomas Popperle has appeared in five games for Syracuse posting a 2-2-1 record, a 2.61 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. Goaltender Craig Anderson has appeared in five games for Rochester, posting a 3-2-0 record, a 3.15 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): The Crunch host the Penguins on Saturday, March 10 for the sixth of eight regular season meetings between the clubs. Syracuse is 1-3-0-1 against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after being shutout 2-0 on January 17 at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. Centers Stephen Dixon (1g, 3a) and Rob Schremp (1g, 3a) lead all players in head-to-head scoring with four points. Several Crunch players have two points each in head-to-head scoring. Goaltender Tomas Popperle has appeared in three games for Syracuse, posting a 1-1-1 record, a 3.00 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. Penguins and former Crunch goaltender Andrew Penner has appeared four times between the pipes, posting a 3-1-0 record, a 1.96 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. The Crunch are 2-2-1-0 against Albany after dropping a 4-3 decision on March 2 at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Defenseman Derrick Walser (2g, 5a) leads all players in head-to-head scoring with seven points. Center Keith Aucoin (2g, 3a) and left wing Ryan Bayda (2g, 3a) lead all River Rats in head-to-head scoring with five points. Goaltender Tomas Popperle has appeared in four games against Albany posting a 1-3-0 record, a 3.81 goals against average and a .857 save percentage. Albany goaltender Tyler Weiman has appeared in three games posting a 1-2-0 record, a 4.30 goals against average and a .884 save percentage. Lifetime, Syracuse is 44-40-9 against Albany.
