OHSAA State Hockey Championships at Nationwide Arena Saturday and Sunday
COLUMBUS, OHIO – For the fifth consecutive year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Ice Hockey Semi-Finals and Championship games will be held at Nationwide Arena the weekend of March 10 & 11. The 2007 semifinals are slated for Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the final played at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, March 12. In addition, the Senior All-Star Game will precede the final at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The 30th Annual OHSAA state hockey tournament, which began with 77 teams, is down to its final four teams. The winners of each district - Brooklyn, Kent, Sylvania and Columbus - have advanced to the semi-finals. Huntington Valley University School will face Toledo St. John's Jesuit in the first semi-final game at 10 a.m., followed by Parma Padua Franciscan taking on Upper Arlington at 1 p.m.
And for the fourth straight year, the Ohio News Network (ONN) will televise the championship game live to a statewide audience. ONN will broadcast the final game with the play-by-play and color commentary being handled by Ohio Junior Blue Jackets play-by-play announcer Mike Miller and former Columbus Blue Jackets player Tyler Wright.
In accordance with its mission statement to dedicate a quarter of annual grants towards the advancement of youth hockey, the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation provided a grant to help make this broadcast possible.
