This Week in CBJ History: October 25-November 1

Every Wednesday, BlueJackets.com will highlight the best games and most memorable moments from the history of the Columbus Blue Jackets. This week we look back at the best from October 28-November 3.

November 1, 2002 – Columbus goaltender Marc Denis ties his own franchise record for the most saves in a period when he turns away all 23 shots he faces in the opening 20 minutes of a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars. Denis had accomplished the same feat almost two years earlier but in that game on Dec. 10, 2000, Denis saved 23 of 24 shots in the second period, with the lone goal allowed earning the Phoenix Coyotes a point in a 1-1 tie.

October 28, 2005 – The Blue Jackets beat Minnesota 2-1 at Nationwide Arena in the first game decided by a shootout in team history. Trevor Letowski beat Wild goaltender Dwayne Roloson in the eighth round of the shootout to give the Blue Jackets the win.

November 3, 2006 – The Blue Jackets enjoy a special teams feast when the power-play unit buries four of nine opportunities with the man advantage on the road against the Calgary Flames. Every one of the power-play goals proves useful as Columbus goes to overtime and then a shootout, eventually beating the Flames 5-4 thanks to a Manny Malholtra goal in the 11th round of the final frame.
