Davidge Dishes - October 12-14 @Colorado

10/12

First long road trip of the year, and it is long in only one sense, to Colorado up and back. The plane is minus Jared Boll, who scored his first NHL goal against Phoenix, but he will be ready to go against Dallas on Wednesday.

Adam Foote returns to the home where he back lined the defense to two Lord Stanley’s. The sad thing, Colorado played in St. Louis Friday night and Footer is unable to spend a minute with some of his old teammates over a dinner. That ritual is part of why hockey is such a great game.

Nikolai Zherdev is making an effort to talk and communicate with others, and especially some of the broadcasters. I have held up the microphone and let him know his first English interview is not far away.

Manny Malhotra and Jason Chimera continued their magic against Phoenix earlier in the week. They both chipped in on the scoreboard and assisted on Jared Boll’s first goal. They made the pact over Canadian Thanksgiving dinner at the Chimera’s and promised Jared they would get him one. An American, Boll joined in on the festivities and will now experience his first Thanksgiving double header.

10/14

The Avalanche game is over now and it is 1:15 AM EST (Sunday, Oct. 14). We are boarding the plane for our 3 hour trip home with our tails between our legs. A 5-1 shellacking on behalf of Joe Sakic and cast, put things back in perspective for the night. It actually could have been worse, but Pascal the Rascal, (who set a new CBJ record with shutout time) really made some key saves throughout the game.

No legs? Was it the Mile High Air? Was it something else? No need to panic, but it certainly disappointed a lot of us, including the players. Not a physical game at all, but should have been… No cycling to tire the Av’s D, but should have… just a game you would like to have over but can’t. Move on and all will take credence and resolution, and hope to learn from this, as it is early in the season.

By the way… it was cloudy in Denver today for the first time in 115 days… any coincidence? We left without a point but left them our cloudy disposition in return.

*Throughout the season, AAA will bring you the Broadcaster's Blogs - "Davidge Dishes" and "Rimer Ramblings". The Columbus Blue Jackets broadcasters will try to keep you update on all the behind the scenes action through their blog, especially when the Blue Jackets hit the road. The next road game is 10/19 @Buffalo.
