It's Been Awhile Since We Last Spoke
Since our last conversation, we had the OTL to the Ducks… the win over the Avalanche for the 2nd ever regulation win ever at NWA and the disappointing 2-0 loss in Boston.
Has there been a common thread?
A PP that is 2-for-16 and a PK that is diminishing in ranking giving up four PP goals in 12 opportunities is one place to begin! The want to find the scoring areas for this team is one that must be reminded on an every other game basis. As Hitch says "offense comes from checking, if you can't check, you cannot score." A commitment to pay the price is the task of the staff as we have heard lately... "consequences will follow." Lastly it is the belief of the staff that "the game begins when the other team has the puck!"… so the moral of the story lies in the fact, puck hunt as a unit of five and when you do come up with it, take it to areas of the ice where you may have to pay the price… and then there are no guarantees.
Jeremy Reich a one time CBJ, scored his first ever NHL goal, a game winner in his 61st game. He had to be tickled to be part of the offense in the win.
Milan Lucic, the 19 year old heavy weight of the Bruins, is bringing back the Bruin pride of toughness and respectability. A former teammate of Gilbert Brule with Vancouver of the WHL, he showed his prowess in the last two games with decisive decisions over David Clarkson of NJ and Jared Boll. Predictions for this young man remain high as he also has the ability to chip in periodically, three two-point games in his young career.
The weather has been the talk of the country as of late. The Fox crew were planning on getting out of Boston on Sunday with all connections cancelled for the day due to a large nor easter that swept the area. They will have a difficult time departing on Monday with all of the business travel that goes through Logan Airport. Kudos to Kent Weaver a member of that illustrious group. He caught the 5:45 a.m. flight and is sitting quietly with wife and kids in Cincinnati.
The week ahead will be an important portion for the CBJ schedule. Calgary on Tuesday, LA on Friday and Nashville on Sunday. All are home games where the CBJ are 9-4-4. As part of the 12 promotions of Christmas, there is a chance for all of you to come in and share a night!
