Oh My... Did You See, What I Did?

Oh my gosh… Nash was a pure magician on the winning goal with 0:22 seconds left.

I sit on the plane on our way to Dallas, trying to overcome the shock on one of the greatest, sickest, individual efforts witnessed by all. Those of us who had a chance to see the goal were in awe. As Mark Wyant paraphrased the goal, "it was like a couple of kids with a stick trying to hit a piñata" as Nash swept in and not only beat the two defenseman, but also schooled Tellqvist on the game winning goal… I apologize now, for stepping all over George on that goal…my gosh by golly, it was a sight for sore eyes and those of us who are fans of the game would appreciate our enthusiasm as we proceeded to jump out of the booth and into the equipment truck as it made its way to the airport.

Looking at period one when the CBJ had a full 2:00 minute 5-on-3 PP and came up with zilch, nada… a threesome of posts but no goals, it became apparent it was going to be a 60 minute affair. One must give Gretzky's Coyotes credit, the effort by Shane Doan on a 3-on-1 after the 5-on-3, was monumental as he blew it by Pazzy for his 15th… what a horse this guy is for them.

Period two showed a great individual effort by Nash as he cut across the grain and scored his 24th of the year… the self determined back breaker had Klesla scoring his 100th career point on the PP to make it a 2-1 lead @18:43.

The third was dominated by the refs, I mean the Coyotes, as they had four PP opportunities to 0 for the CBJ. They did score their fifth 5-on-3 PP goal of the year, but Zherdev scored on a stuff after Fedorov set a two man moving pick drop pass to "Z" who stuffed it into the net, like stove top.

The end of the third showed the character and the best players being their best… Nash as described above with 6g-5a in his last four games at Phoenix, Leclaire with some 19 saves in the period, and the extra effort from Peca, Foote and the cast of others… what a gratifying win as they walk away with the 4-3 win… WOW!

In the morning, I had told Nash that he had 4g-4a in three games in Phoenix… he eluded to the fact that I might JINX him… sorry Nasher. One cannot wait until the return on Feb 7th.

Impressive were the Coyotes tonight with there 2-1-2 fore-checks that did not quit. Impressive was the play of Peter Mueller, who now has 11 goals on the year. This kid will be an annual All-star in years to come. He shows patience, great hands and a better shot. This kid was impressive. The whole team demonstrated the passion their coach Wayne Gretzky has for the game… work, drive, passion, the want to win and the never say die attitude… I love it!

Most of all, what a reward for the CBJ?... they did not fold. They seem focused and on line for the five game road trip!... Led by the Colonel and the vets, look out. It will be fun.

Stay tuned!... on our way to the Stars!!
