Rimer's Ramblings from Detroit

November 8

We arrived in Detroit shortly after noon today... 90 minutes later we were at Joe Louis Arena for a Jackets mid-afternoon practice. The coaches had a team meeting and then it was out to the ice.

Interesting to note the lines will be different for Tomorrow's game against perhaps the NHL's best and certainly the leagues hottest team the Red Wings. They have won eight in a row... and are one off the franchise record of nine straight victories! The tilt won't be an easy one, but you know the Blue Jackets will be prepared.

Pascal Leclaire is expected get the start... and as far as the line changes are concerned, here you go...

Jiri Novotny gets a chance to center the top line. He will be flanked by Rick Nash and Nikolai Zherdev. Sergei Fedorov back home here in Detroit will center a line with Gilbert Brule and David Vyborny who MUST pick up his game! Jason Chimera has been taken off the Malhotra line... Chimmer will work with Michael Peca and Jared Boll and the fourth line will be Manny Malhotra with either Curtis Glencross or Jody Shelley and Dan Fritsche.

Hitch says the team needs more definition, a lot more... disappointed with the turnovers, odd man rushes, over playing the puck and getting away from their checking game... thus he feels the lines against the Wings will refect the "definition" in their lineup.

By the way... Novotny won the latest shootout contest and I'd expect he will be one of the CBJ's shooters next time out!

On another note... Duvie Westcott will as we reported earlier head to Syracuse this weekend on a conditioning assignment.

The Jackets played very well against the Red Wings in last year's season series and here's hoping that continues this season and specifically tomorrow night
