Columbia Gas Blue Jackets Hot Prospect Report (Dec. 15)
Philippe Dupuis and Trevor Hendrikx top this week's Columbia Gas Hot Prospects Report. Dupuis, a forward in the QMJHL, recorded 2-3-5 in three games and ranks second on his team in scoring. Hendrikx, a defenseman in the OHL, posted 0-5-5 in two games as his team improved to 24-5-1-0 on the season and a No. 3 ranking in the CHL's Top-10.

Jared Boll (Plymouth) -
Boll has recorded 9-9-18 with six power-play goals and 105 penalty minutes in 30 games this season. He ranks 6th in the OHL in Penalty Minutes and T-15th in Rookie Points. Columbus' fourth pick, 101st overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, Boll spent the past two seasons with Lincoln of the USHL, where he registered 29-32-61 and 470 PIM in 116 games.

Trevor Hendrikx (Peterborough) - Hendrikx dished out five assists in two games last week to improve his season totals to 3-22-25 with two power-play goals, and a +11 plus-minus rating in 24 contests. He ranks T-22nd in the OHL in plus-minus rating and T-11th in points by a defenseman. Peterborough is 24-5-1-0 on the season, first in the OHL and ranked No. 3 in the CHL's Top-10. Hendrikx entered the season with 25-68-93 in 232 career OHL games, coming off of a career-year with 15-33-48 in 68 games during the '04-05 campaign.

Dan LaCosta (Barrie) - LaCosta he opened the season with a 16-7-1-2 record, 2.32 goals against average, .926 save percentange, and three shutouts. He leads the OHL in goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts and ranks T-3rd in wins. LaCosta also appeared in one game of the CHL's Canada/Russia Challenge, stopping 25-of-27 shots for 5-2 Team OHL win. Barrie is second in the OHL's Eastern Conference (21-10-1-2, 45 points) and ranked No. 7 in the CHL's Top 10. A third round selection by the Blue Jackets in the 2004 Entry Draft, LaCosta was 25-11-4 with a 2.86 GAA and .902 SV%, and one shutout, ranking tied for second in the OHL in wins.

Adam McQuaid (Sudbury) - McQuaid has scored 2-5-7 in 31 games this season. Columbus' second round selection, 55th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he entered the season with 6-22-28 and 123 PIM in 113 career OHL games.

Kyle Wharton (Sault Ste. Marie) - Wharton has recorded 1-5-6 in his past six games to increase his season totals to 6-16-22 in 33 OHL games. He ranks second on his team in points and has already set new career highs in goals, assists, and points. Wharton also dished out 0-1-1 in two games for Team OHL in the Canada/Russia Challenge, including an assist on the game-winning goal. Columbus' second round pick, 59th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Wharton has recorded 12-39-51 with 109 PIM in 139 career OHL games.

Philippe Dupuis (Moncton) -
Dupuis registered 2-3-5 in three games last week and enters this weekend's play with 11-33-44 and a +13 plus-minus rating in 25 games. He ranks second on his team in points and T-10th in the QMJHL in assists. Moncton's 24-9-0-1 record ranks No. 6 in the CHL's Top-10. Dupuis finished among the QMJHL scoring leaders last year with 34-50-84 in 62 games for Rouyn-Noranda. He was traded from Rouyn-Noranda to Moncton during the offseason.

Adam Pineault (Moncton) - Pineault has recorded 10-11-21 with five power-play tallies in just 20 games this season after rebounding from an early season injury. At 24-9-0-1, Moncton ranks No. 6 in the CHL's Top-10. A second round pick by the Blue Jackets in the 2004 Entry Draft, he ranked among the QMJHL rookie leaders in most major statistical categories last season with 26-20-46 and +12 rating in 61 games. He missed two weeks during the 2003-04 season while playing with Team USA at World Junior Championships and is a candidate to skate for Team USA at this years World Juniors.

Petr Pohl (Acadie-Bathurst) - Pohl has opened the season with 15-33-48, +8 plus-minus rating, six power-play goals, and three game-winning scores in 35 games. He ranks T-10th in the league in assists and T-16th in points. Acadie-Bathurst is 23-9-2-3, good for second place in the QMJHL and the No. 4 ranking in the CHL's Top-10. A 2004 Entry Draft selection by the Blue Jackets, Pohl entered the year with 50-59-109 in 132 career QMJHL games.

Justin Vienneau (Shawinigan) - Vienneau has posted 1-8-9 in 33 games this season, just three assist shy of his career high set last year. He ranks 13th in the QMJHL with 100 penalty minutes. A 2004 Entry Draft selection by the Blue Jackets, he entered the season with 4-18-22 and 275 PIM in 113 career QMJHL games.

Derek Reinhart (Regina) -
Reinhart has opened the season with 0-1-1 and a +3 plus-minus rating in 18 games. The defenseman was Columbus' sixth pick, 177th overall, in this summer's Entry Draft. He entered the year with 3-11-14 and 312 PIM in 123 career WHL games.

Kris Russell (Medicine Hat) - Russell had a strong Hockey Canada Junior Selection Camp this week and earned a slot on the Canadian Junior National Team for the 2006 World Junior Championhips this winter. In 30 games this season he has recorded 8-17-25 to rank T-3rd in the WHL in goals by a defenseman and T-4th in points by a defenseman. Named Team Captain for Medicine Hat this season, Russell also scored the game's opening goal in a 3-1 Game 6 win for Team WHL in CHL's Canada/Russia Challenge. Medicine Hat is 22-8-0-6, tied for first place in the WHL and ranked No. 9 in the CHL's Top-10. Russell was Columbus' third pick, 67th overall, in this summer's Entry Draft. He ranked among the league's top scoring defensemen last season with 26-35-61 in 72 games, the most goals scored by a defenseman in any of the three Canadian Junior leagues.
