How I Spent My Olympic Break
Some went home and relaxed on the couch.
Some played golf.
Some got caught in blizzards.
One even got married.
Ron Hainsey: “I was supposed to go home, but because of the snow storm in New England, I couldn’t…. So I went to Florida and played a lot of golf.”
Duvie Westcott: “Packed my girlfriend and the dog into the GMC Yukon and we drove 10 hours back to Minnesota where we hung out with friends and family…. I really enjoyed the cold and windy weather. I mostly just hung out on the couch and watched the Olympics.”
Jason Chimera: “I got married.”
Marc Denis: “I packed up the family and went up north to Chicoutimi (Quebec). My son did some downhill skiing. He is just starting that out. My in-laws have a cabin on a ski resort, so my wife and my kids skied a lot…. I just sat at the bottom of the hill and watched.”
“We got caught in a blizzard. On Friday (Feb. 17) we got hit with two feet of snow and Saturday it turned out to be -47 degrees…. So obviously, I did a lot of playing with the kids in the snow and shoveled a lot of snow.”
Pascal Leclaire: “I went back home to Montreal and really didn’t do much.”
Rostislav Klesla: “I went back home and saw some family and friends. I took care of some things…. It was more of a business trip for me.”
Luke Richardson: “Went on family vacation in California and drove down the coast. We started in San Francisco and drove down to Los Angeles. It was fun…. We stopped in Venice Beach and rented some bicycles and rode down to Santa Monica…. We even got the family picture taken on the beach in Malibu.”
Jan Hrdina: “Went to Mexico to Mayan Riviera and spent six days on the beach. I love Mexican food.”
Jody Shelley: “Went to Mexico with Trevor Letowski. We hung out and played ping pong. I spent a lot of quality time with Trevor.”
