CBJ Anthem Singer Libby Turnow Wins Fox-28's 'Gimme The Mike' competition
Blue Jackets Anthem singer, Libby Turnow, won the local talent search – ‘Gimme The Mike,' on Wednesday. The show will re-air on ABC-6 on Saturday, July 1 at 11:30 p.m., in case you missed it. CBJ.com will post the performance as soon as it is made available.
Singing the Dixie Chicks' "Let 'Er Rip," besting fellow singers Aleesha Carter, Suzanne Schwartz, Tabitha Kelley, Amanda Smigelsky, who had each won over the previous five weeks, along with one wild card winner to advance to the finals."I already felt blessed to have the opportunity and given the talent of my competition, I was floored when I won," Turnow said. "I am so grateful for the exposure and the opportunity to be critiqued by people in the industry."
To book a spot in the finals, Turnow belted out her rendition of Etta James’ “At Last” and CBJ.com has obtained a copy of that performance, below.
As the Grand Prize Winner, Libby will receive cash and prizes valued at approximately $18,000, winning a two (2) year lease on a 2006 Ford Fusion; a trip for two (2) to see a Pepsi Smash Concert in Los Angeles featuring Mariah Carey. The trip package includes: roundtrip airfare, coach class, for two (2); two (2) nights hotel accommodations (one room, double occupancy), two (2) tickets to the concert, ground transportation to and from the airport and event, Pepsi SMASH gift bag with exclusive merchandise and $200 per diem.
The Grand Prize Winner will also receive an Apple i-Pod Nano; $500 gift basket from Fiesta Salons; $250 in gift certificates to Twist 27 and Principessa clothing boutiques; studio recording hours at The Power Plant Audio & Video Production Studios; gift certificates from Bob Evans Restaurants and an opening performance for a concert at Lifestyle Communities Pavilion.
