As the season progresses, the Jackets will look to some of their blueline’s youngest members, guys like Aaron Johnson, to step up and shut down the opposition. Perhaps one of the friendliest guys in the dressing room–and that’s saying something, as all of the CBJ are personable folks off the ice–Johnson reminisces about his first NHL goal and spaghetti suppers back in Nova Scotia in this week’s “Q&A with the CBJ.”

(CBJ.com) – Q: What is it about hockey that you love the most?

(Aaron) – A: I guess it’s just the guys and the atmosphere. It seems like all the guys have the same mentality and enjoy the same things. It’s the friendships and the bonds you make.

(CBJ.com) – Q: What are your personal and team goals for the season?

(Aaron) – A: I think it’s just a matter of continuing to get better and better as the season proceeds. I try to find something each day to work on.

(CBJ.com) – Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your family and growing up in Nova Scotia?

(Aaron) – A: I grew up with two older brothers. One brother was always away playing hockey, so I guess that’s something that I always idolized and wanted to kind of follow in his footsteps. We were your basic middle-class family. My father worked as an insurance broker, and my mother was in and out of several different provincial jobs (working for the government.)

(CBJ.com) – Q: What’s been the highlight of your hockey career so far?

(Aaron) – A: I guess scoring my first NHL goal. It was against L.A. three years ago. It was my first year.

(CBJ.com) – Q: Do you remember everything about the goal? Do you have a picture of it?

(Aaron) – A: Yep. The team makes a good case with the puck and the score sheet and everything. It was pretty cool. It was just when (Nikolai) Zherdev had arrived, too.

(CBJ.com) – Q: What’s your favorite food?

(Aaron) – A: I’m a big pasta guy, so spaghetti. My mom’s got some secret Italian sauce, so I guess I’m big on that.

(CBJ.com) – Q: What kind of music gets you pumped up?

(Aaron) – A: You know, I’m into everything. To get pumped up? Anything fast. Anything with a beat to it.

(CBJ.com) – Q: If you weren’t playing pro hockey, what would you be doing right now?

(Aaron) – A: (Chuckling) Well, I’d be working at my father’s convenient store. He owns it and runs it now. It was just an investment over the past five years, actually. I’d probably be working behind the counter.

(CBJ.com) – Q: Who’s your funniest teammate?

(Aaron) – A: We got a good group of guys. I guess (Jason) Chimera is always a guy that keeps everyone relaxed. Also, you’ve got the experience of “Footer” (Adam Foote) who’s just easygoing.

(CBJ.com) – Q: Describe Aaron Johnson in one word.

(Aaron) – A: “Outgoing.”
