Blue Jackets Prospects Steve Mason and Stefan Legein Named Team Canada\'s National Junior Team Selection Camp

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets prospects Steve Mason and Stefan Legein have been named to Team Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp, set to take place from December 10-14 at the Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary, Alberta, Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League announced today. Mason and Legein, who both competed for Team Canada in the Canada/Russia Super Series this past fall, are two of 37 players who will take part in the camp.

The Blue Jackets' second pick, 69th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, Mason has gone 18-3-2 with a 2.85 goals-against average and .915 save percentage with one shutout in 23 games for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He is second in the OHL in wins. Last season, he posted a 45-13-4 record with a 3.20 GAA and .914 SV% in 62 games with the Knights. He was named the OHL Goaltender of the Year and set the league record for wins.

Legein, Columbus' second pick, 37th overall, in the 2007 Entry Draft, has netted 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points with 58 penalty minutes and is +7 in 22 games with the Niagara IceDogs (OHL). He is second on the club in goals and third in points. Last season, he had 43-32-75 with 115 penalty minutes and was +31 in 64 games. He was selected to play in the 2007 CHL Top Prospects Game and represented the Eastern Conference at the OHL All-Star Game, where he won the fastest skater competition.

The 2008 IIHF World Junior Championships begin December 26 in Liberec and Pardubice Czech Republic and conclude with the championship game on January 5. The 10 team participating are: Group A – Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovakia and Sweden and Group B – Finland, Kazakhstan, Russia, Switzerland and the United States.

The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they host the Dallas Stars at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. ET. The game will broadcast nationwide on VERSUS. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM, Sports Radio 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
